Let the Six-Pack Summer Roll

Eight albums, two ASCAP Songwriter of the Year trophies, Billboard Country Songwriter of the Year, an Emmy nomination, countless hits as a singer and songwriter and a mantle full of awards. Phil Vassar has spent the last two decades cementing his name in country music history.

Vassar‘s vocal career began in 1998 when he signed with Arista Records, and subsequently released his hit debut single, “Carlene.” He hasn’t looked back since. Numerous hits (such as “Just Another Day in Paradise” and “I’ll Take That as a Yes”) and countless high-energy shows have followed.

Vassar has also seen success on the other side of the business as well, penning hit songs for some of the genre’s top artists. “Songs should evoke something, whether it makes you happy and puts you in a good mood, or makes you cry and feel desperation,” says Vassar. “And if it’s just having a drink with your friends in the hot tub, that’s just as good as any song for me!” His songwriting resume includes the the likes of “My Next Thirty Years” by Tim McGraw, Jo Dee Messina’s “Bye, Bye” and “I’m Alright” and “Little Red Rodeo” by Collin Raye.

When Vassar isn’t entertaining large crowds, he’s at home enjoying dad time with his two daughters and devoting his free time to numerous charitable organizations. Vassar‘s volunteer work includes St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Monroe Carell, Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, Second Harvest Food Bank and more.
