Lauren Alaina Wins Academy of Country Music’s New Female Vocalist of the Year

Lauren Alaina has had quite the year, being nominated for and winning a myriad of awards. This year’s ACM nominations include Best Vocal Event with Kane Brown for “What Ifs,” as well as New Female Vocalist.

But perhaps this Monday has become her career’s highlight, as Lauren got a phone call from country music legend Reba McEntire, telling her that she had won the ACM New Female Vocalist of the Year. The news got Alaina choked up—which in turn got Reba choked up—suddenly we’re all choked up. Don’t do that to us!

“I can’t still even form words,” Lauren admitted in a recent interview. “Honest to God, it’s the most speechless I’ve ever been. Like, I was on the phone with Reba McEntire and could not formulate words. Like I was really feeling dumb, but I sobbed. I’ve cried ever since.”

Lauren is honored to win the peer-nominated award that has raised a new level of confirmation in her ability.
